What Dimensions of beach wall art to choose from?

The format of the painting is one of the main criteria for a successful wall decoration.

The golden rule: do not place a single small painting on a large empty wall! The visual result would be disappointing. In this case, prefer to create an association of small paintings according to the advice we give you below and play with the volumes to compose your very personalized mural or, to decorate a small wall, think of dressing it with a strip of original non-woven wallpaper.

On the other hand, a large painting has all its place on a small wall. It will be all the better valued as it will take up space on the wall.

Where should beach artwork be placed?

Taking the case of the two pictures at the bottom of a minimalist style interior, where light tones are the most dominant, a series of modern paintings with canvas printing (example 1) or a single horizontal painting (example 2) hung on a low level (1m50cm) embellishes the living room, giving it its character while preserving the simplistic side of this style of decoration.

How high should the painting be hung?

Whatever the dimensions of your artwork, respect the 165 rule. We have the unfortunate tendency to place our paintings too high. In reality, the rules of art consider that to fully enjoy the decorative effect of the painting, the ideal height of its location is that which places the center of the painting at 165 cm from the ground, and therefore at eye level.

Here’s how to place the mounting hole of your painting’s hanging hook in the right place, whatever its size.

  • What is the height of your painting in cm? Divide this number by 2, you get a result that we will call RESULT 1.
  • Measure the distance from the top of the attachment point to the top of the painting. You get a result that we will call RESULT 2
  • Calculate the number of RESULT1 minus the number of RESULT2. You get the number of RESULT3
  • Add 165 cm to RESULT 3: you get the ideal height where to place your fixing point of the painting. This magic formula works whatever the size of your painting!
